MRS. SCHAMBER SERVICES SET

Betty R. Schamber, 56, of 117 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died of a heart attack Tuesday, May 29, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Scripture services will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harry Linnenbrink of St. Mary's Catholic Church officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home until 1 p.m. Friday.

The daughter of Glenn and Iva Davis Lewis, she was born Oct. 20, 1927, at Shell Rock. She attended Shell Rock Schools and later lived at Cedar Falls and Aplington. On Aug. 2, 1953, she was married to Lawrence W. Schamber in Des Moines. The couple lived in Des Moines where she worked as a nurse's aide at the Bishop Drumm Home and Westview Manor. She was later employed in the housekeeping department at the Hotel Fort Des Moines and American Maid and Cleaning. In 1976 she moved to Grinnell and was employed at Friendship Manor.

She is survived by her mother, Iva Lewis of Aplington; one daughter, Betty Lou Schamber of Grinnell; five brothers, Bob Lewis of Nebraska, Gordon Lewis of Des Moines, Sanford Lewis of near Waterloo and Glenn Lewis and Roy Lewis, both of Aplington; and one sister, Ruby Van Ellen of Austinville. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband and one sister, Carol Scents.
