SERVICES TUESDAY

Verda Lee, 82, the widow of Joseph F. Lee, died Saturday evening at a nursing home in Edmund, Okla. A resident of the Grinnell community for 45 years, she had lived the past two years in Oklahoma with her daughter.

The daughter of William and Rose Dye Piersel, she was born on Oct. 26, 1888, at Oskaloosa and was educated in the Oskaloosa schools. She was a graduate of William Penn College in Oskaloosa, and before her marriage she taught in the Emmetsburg and Estherville schools.

On Sept. 15, 1926, she was married to Joseph F. Lee. Following their marriage, the couple farmed on her parents' farm. In February of 1928, they moved to their farm southeast of Grinnell. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 28, 1963.

Mrs. Lee was a member of the Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and Community Club. She was a 4-H leader for many years.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Frank Asmier of Thornburg, Iowa; and a brother, Homer Piersel of Perry, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lee will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. L. Willard Reynolds will officiate, and interment will be in the Forest Cemetery at Oskaloosa.
