BESSIE MYRTLE ARMSTRONG

Bessie Myrtle Armstrong, the daughter of Ezra and Elizabeth Fahrney, was born Dec. 29, 1883. She passed away in Deep River April 27 at the age of 84 years, 3 months and 27 days.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters and six half-brothers and one son-in-law, William Shadley.

She was married to Harry E. Armstrong in 1903. To this union were born six children.

Her husband preceded her in death on August 23, 1932. After the death of her husband, she moved to Deep River where she has since made her home.

She was a member of the Methodist Church at Tilton, but later transferred her membership to the Deep River Methodist church.

She leaves to mourn her passing three brothers, Cloyd of Newton, Clint of California and William of Deep River, and her six children, Donald of Deep River, Mrs. Howard (Lenore) Dale of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Ed (Neva) Richardson of Ames, Mrs. Hazel Shadley of Sioux City, Mrs. George (Helen) Webber of Deep River, Mrs. David (Dorothy) Wilcox of Sigourney. Also ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Armstrong was held Tuesday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at the Deep River Methodist church, the Rev. James Seeber officiating. Pallbearers were Mrs. Armstrong's grandsons, Jim Wilcox, Bill Shadley (unable to attend) Dick Wilcox, Carol Wilcox, Jerry Webber, Larry Webber (in service in Viet Nam), Gary Armstrong, Sonny Richardson and Maynard Zimmerman. Burial was in Goldenrod cemetery, Deep River, with the Steffy Funeral Home in charge.
