Delores May Awtry, 79, of Searsboro, died Saturday, June 9, 2012, at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, June 13, at the Hewitt Cemetery near Galesburg with Pastor George Salnave officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Friends Church at Lynnville. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Delores Awtry was born on May 25, 1933, near Galesburg, Iowa, the daughter of Giles and Ruth Ramage Awtry. She attended the Richland Country School near Galesburg and graduated in 1951 from the Searsboro High School. Delores continued her family tradition of farming their homestead in the Searsboro area. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading a good book and other simple pleasures.
She is survived by her two brothers, Charles Awtry and Wendell Awtry, both of Searsboro.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Raymond, as well as a brother and sister who died at birth.
