GRACE A. OCHS

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, Jan. 23, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home in Brooklyn for Mrs. Grace A. Ochs, 83, of Brooklyn, who died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, in Friendship Manor, Grinnell.

The Rev. Ronald Van Heukelom, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated. The organist was Marilyn Kriegel and the soloist was Anna Upah. Special selections were "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art," and "In the Garden."

Casket bearers were James F. Kriegel, Richard Kriegel, Jerry Kriegel, David Kriegel, Maynard Saylor and Glen Stauffer. Interment was in the Haven Cemetery, rural Tama.

Grace Adella Ochs, daughter of Edd Graham and Thankful Etta Billick Graham, was born Nov. 9, 1915, in Richland Township, Tama County. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1935.

On Oct. 11, 1938, she was married to Vernon "Shorty" L. Ochs in Grinnell. They made their home in Brooklyn, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

She was preceded by her husband, who died Aug. 21, 1991; a daughter, Sandra; an infant son; and her brother, Clyde Graham.

Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Roger and Judy Ochs of Chelsea and Terry and Gloria Ochs of Victor; her sister, Bethel Mullen of Muscatine; her brother, George Graham of Sumner, Wash.; four grandchildren, Russell Ochs, Crystal Ochs Roberts, Kurt Ochs and Dan Ochs; and two great-grandchildren, Danielle Roberts and Ryan Roberts.

A memorial fund has been established.
