SERVICES FRIDAY

Florence Blandin, 61, of the Mayflower Home passed away Tuesday evening at Grinnell General Hospital.

The daughter of Carl S. and Lena Petersen Cone, she was born at Clinton, Ia., on May 31, 1908. She received her education at the Davenport public schools and graduated from Davenport High School. A few years after graduation she continued her education at Iowa City and received a degree as a registered nurse.

In 1929 she was married to Lawrence E. Traven who preceded her in death in 1966. She moved to Grinnell in the spring of 1967 and made her home at the Mayflower Home. On Feb. 12, 1968, she married Floyd Blandin. The couple continued to reside at the Mayflower Home.

Mrs. Blandin was a member of the Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband Floyd; two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Nancy) Schmidt of Eldridge, Ia., and Mrs. James (Virginia) Pirch of Rock Island, Ill.; five grandchildren Kirsten and Lisa Pirch, Eric, Lynn and Melanie Schmidt; a step-daughter, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Fonda of Knoxville; a step-grandchild, Susan Fonda; a sister, Mrs. Menselle Martin of Washington, Ia.; and a brother, Dr. Carl B. Cone of Lexington, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blandin will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Beebe will officiate, and the organist will be Kathleen Heffner. A service will also be conducted at the Zion Lutheran Church at Elvira the same afternoon (3 p.m.). Interment will be in the Elvira cemetery.
