HELD JUNE 16

SEARSBORO (Special)--Hattie Goldene Watson Fickel of Searsboro died June 12 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Services for Hattie Fickel were held on Wednesday, June 16, at 1:30 p.m. at the Fremont Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Hadley and the Rev. Irene Weitert officiating. Music was provided by soloists Mrs. Lyle Smith of Des Moines and Alfred Steen of Searsboro, with Mrs. Edwin Bryan at the organ. Interment was at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Stockport, Ia.

She was the daughter of Millard and Eliza Ann Watson and was born in Van Buren County near Hillsboro, Ia., on Sept. 9, 1893. She was married to Albert Fickel on Dec. 12, 1911. The couple had three children, Elgie Lindley, Raymond Wendell and Winifred Pauline. The family moved to Searsboro in March of 1927. Alfred Fickel worked at the local lumber yard and did other day work until his health failed. Hattie Fickel cared for her husband in their home for 17 years.

Survivors include her son Raymond of Searsboro, her daughter Winifred Galbreath of Des Moines, their spouses, her sisters-in-law, Sena Anderson and Ella Redman, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert, her son Elgie, two sisters, Alma Snider and Somella Watson, and three brothers, Johnnie James, Albert and Orla.
