JOHN ARTHUR ALLISON

John Arthur Allison, of Deep River, age 86, passed away July 4, 2012 at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

He was born April 27, 1926 at Gibson, son of John L. and Clela Moore Allison.

He was graduated from Gibson High School in 1943.

He served in the United States Army from February 1945 to December 1946. He served with the occupation forces in Korea.

He attended Iowa State University at Ames, graduating in December 1950 with a bachelor degree in animal science and agronomy.

On April 27, 1951 he was married to Geraldine Fox at the Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa.

He served as an elder and trustee at the Gibson Presbyterian Church.

He also served on the Keokuk County School board and taught G.I. school at Deep River.

He was a life long farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of Deep River; daughter, Mary Ellen (Dan) Storm of Gibson; son, Merle (Leigh Ann) Allison of Panora. Six grandchildren: Heather (Ken) Dake of South Elgin, Ill., Jason (Leah) Storm of Lake Keomaha, Kristy (Bryan) Hammel of Bettendorf, Michele, Megan and Christopher Allison of Panora. Five great grandsons: Eric and Ethan Dake, Carsten, Simon and Oren Hammel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edwin L. Allison and a granddaughter, Andrea Marie Allison.

Memorial servive was July 15 at the Gibson Presbyterian Church. Burial was at 16 Cemetery near Thornburg.
