THELMA BORCHERT

Thelma J. Borchert, 61, of Altoona, formerly of Grinnell, died of a heart attack Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Lacona.

A native of Melcher, she lived in Grinnell for several years, moving to Altoona three years ago.

Mrs. Borchert is survived by her husband, Paul; one daughter, Sharon Smalley of Altoona; four sons, Ronald of Gillette, Wyo., Jeffrey of Cortez, Colo., Kevin of Bondurant and Bryan of Altoona; her father, Lawrence Vander Ecken of Melcher-Dallas; three sisters, Dorothy Borchert of Des Moines, Maxine Smith of Carlisle and Beverly Knust of Lacona; and nine grandchildren.
