Mrs. Oscar Baker Dies in Hospital

At 12 o’clock noon on Saturday in the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown occurred the death of Mrs. Oscar Baker of Chelsea community. Mrs. Baker submitted to an operation on May 30. Her condition had been failing for the past few years.

Carrie Edith Brush was born a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amza Brush on August 30, 1880, in Richland township. She reached the age of 46 years, 9 months and 4 days.

On March 30, 1904, at the home of her parents, she was united in marriage with Oscar Baker.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband and four children who are Mrs. Margaret McIlrath of Brooklyn, and Jesse, Lilburn and Iola, at home. Her death also is mourned by her parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Hattie Ryan, S. A. Brush, Raymond Brush, all of Chelsea; Mrs. Frank West and Mrs. Will Graham of Marshalltown, Mrs. Jennie Smith of Newton, Frank Brush of Gothenburg, Nebraska, E. A. Brush of Delta, Utah.

She was ever a dutiful daughter, a kind and loving wife, and a true, courageous, and God-fearing mother, ever true to her maker, her family and her friends. All who knew her learned to respect and love her.

Mrs. Baker was a devoted member of the Methodist church.

The funeral was held Wednesday with services from the Kent chapel, Rev. G. G. Booton officiating. Interment was in the Kent cemetery.
