DOROTHY A.M. LENZ, 74

Dorothy Ann Mason Lenz, 74, of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2006 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Montezuma.

Her funeral service was Saturday, Feb. 18, at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma with the Rev. Joann Hary of the Montezuma United Methodist Church officiating. Interment of cremains was at St. John's Cemetery, Newton. Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma as in charge of the arrangements.

Honorary casket bearers were Jim Brown, Jim Thomas, Ray Faubus, Artie Thayer, George Strable, Bill Moore, Greg Swihart, Randy Moore, Tom Lenz, Rob Lenz and Rick Leedom.

Dorothy was born Nov. 23, 1931 at Meriden, the daughter of William (Roy) and Margaret Ann (Eischen) Mason. She graduated from Aurelia High School in 1949. On Sept. 29, 1950, she was united in marriage with Kletis D. Lenz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They raised four children, Diana, Donna, Robert and Tom. They lived in Aurelia and Newton before moving to Lake Ponderosa about 25 years ago. Dottie loved to do crafting, oil painting, embroidering and sewing. She also enjoyed watching birds, doing gardening and playing games and cards. Kletis died June 13, 2005.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana (and Greg) Swihart and Donna (and Randy) Moore, all of Newton; two sons, Robert Lenz of Newton and Tom Lenz of Missouri Valley; 11 grandchildren including Peggy (and Matt) Kacer, Carrie (and Jim) Evans, Alicia (and Tom) Kaldenberg, Travis (and Stacey) Swihart, Blake Swihart, Jason Moore, Jon Moore, Michael Lenz, Aaron Lenz, Jennifer Sanders and Ben Sanders; four great-grandchildren including Lukas Kacer, Mariah Kacer, Josi Swihart and Kathryn Evans, and other relatives and many friends.
