KLETIS D. LENZ, 73

Kletis Dean Lenz, 73, of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma, died at his home on Monday night, June 13, 2005.

His memorial service was held Saturday, June 18, at Watts Funeral Home, Montema, with Chaplain Bill Arms of Grinnell Regional Medical Center, officiating. The eulogy was by Mr. Brad Manatt. Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma was in charge of the arrangements.

Honorary casket bearers were Greg Swihart, Jim Brown, Dave Hochstetler, Jim Thomas, Ray Faubus, B.K. Walter, Frank Heinen, Carman Maxwell, Jack Roberts, George Strable, Mike Lenz, Matt Kacer, Jason Moore, Randy Moore, Travis Swihart, Blake Swihart and Tom Kaldenberg.

Kletis was born Dec. 31, 1931 at Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Robert Edward and Edna Mae (Allen) Lenz. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1950. On Sept. 29, 1950, he was united in marriage with Dorothy Ann Mason at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They lived in Aurelia and Newton before moving to Montezuma. He retired from Manatt's in Newton. He bowled on the Manatt's team and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and their four children, Diana (Greg) Swihart of Newton; Tom Lenz of Missouri Valley; Rob Lenz of Newton; and Donna (Randy) Moore of Newton; 11 grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, Jon, Jason, Travis, Blake, Sissy and Ben, with a special mention of three young ladies for whom Klete was not only a grandfather, but a father: Peggy Ann Kacer, Carrie Mae Evans and Alicia Marie Kaldenberg; three great-grandchildren, Lukas, Mariah and Josi, and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Forrest Wayne, Lloyd Vernon and Robert Allen.

Memorials in his name may be directed to Grinnell Regional Medical Center for the Healing Garden.
