DON E. WARDEN, 91

Don E. Warden, 91, of Montezuma, died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at St. Francis Manor in Grinnell of complications of Alzheimer's.

Funeral servcies were held on Friday, May 23, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Rev. Warren James of the Baptist Church in Montezuma, officiated. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Don was born on May 13, 1906. He was a graduate of Eldon High School. He married Virginia Williams on June 11, 1931, in Kirksville, Mo. He worked as an excavator contactor, self employed as Don Warden Construction and lived in the Newton area for fifty years. Virginia preceded him in death on August 17, 1981. On May 13, 1986, he married Hallie Hanna at Eldon. Five years ago he moved to Grinnell. He was a member of the Newton Immanuel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Virginia; two sons, Tom and Donnie, one brother, Gilbert and one sister, Imo.

He is survived by his wife, Hallie Warden, of Zapata, Texas; his son, Rex Warden and wife Sandy of Montezuma; one daughter-in-law, Marlene Warden of Wheeling, Illinois; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Loren Warden, of Newton; and one sister, Iva Benson of Eldon.

Memorials may be made to his name.
