HENRY VERSPILLE

Henry Verspille, 85, of Grinnell died of a stroke Saturday, Dec. 28, at the Putnam County Care Facility in Unionville, Mo.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell, with the Rev. William Reynolds officiating. Music will be provided by St. Mary's Choir and organist Kyle Szary. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A scripture service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Aug. 22, 1911, at Kiowa, Colo. He was raised in Kiowa and graduated from high school there in 1929. He was married to Evaline Cleppe at Victor, and the couple farmed near Hartwick and, from 1951 to 1973, near Brooklyn. Mr. Verspille retired to Grinnell in 1973.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne Van Ommen of Grinnell and Irma Dye of Livonia, Mo.; one sister, Florence Pritchard of Kiowa, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
