ELMA M. KLOPPENBURG

Elma M. Kloppenburg, 85, of 101 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died Saturday, Sept. 7, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Graveside services were conducted at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Grinnell and sent in care of the Smith Funeral Home.

The daughter of Walter W. and Jennie Langhout Wilson, she was born May 6, 1908, at Lead, S.D. The family moved to Hartley where she graduated from high school in 1926. She taught school and later attended Sacred Heart Nursing School.

She was married to Kermit Kloppenburg Aug. 13, 1931, in South Dakota. They farmed near Everly and Hartley before retiring and moving to Duluth, Minn. While living there, Mrs. Kloppenburg worked as a registered nurse in a hospital emergency room. They later moved to Hemet, Calif., and, in 1986, to Grinnell.

She was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church and was active in the Farm Bureau and as a volunteer for Grinnell General Hospital.

Surviving are one daughter, Maxine Brammer of Grinnell; one son, Ken of Center Point; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
