MARILOIS HOCKEY, 82

Marilois Hockey, 82, of Des Moines and formerly of Montezuma, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma. Burial will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 until the time of service. Interment will be held in the Barnes City Cemetery in Barnes City. Holland-Coble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marilois Ludwick Hockey, the daughter of Claire and Pearl Martha (White) Ludwick, was born on Jan. 11, 1930, south of Lynnville. She was a 1949 graduate of Montezuma High School. Marilois attended Drake University and the University of Northern Iowa Teacher's College, where she received her teacher's certificate. She taught fourth and fifth grade at Brooklyn, Barnes City, Dallas Center and Berwick. On May 20, 1955, Marilois was united in marriage to Charles E. Hockey in Lancaster, Mo. Marilois enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting. She loved teaching and spending time with children. Marilois was a member of the East Ankeny Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church, where she was the bookkeeper and taught Sunday school.

Marilois is survived by her children, Chuck (Janet) Hockey of Des Moines and Dan Hockey of Des Moines; and two grandchildren, Sara and Olivia Hockey of Des Moines.

Marilois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Hockey; a daughter in infancy; five brothers and sisters, LaQuine Rauud, Marjorie Woods, Kenneth Ludwick, Howard Ludwick and Dorothy Bender.
