NENA SCHMADEKE

Nena Schmadeke, 77 of Montezuma died April 10, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Services were April 13, at the Community Hope Church in Montezuma.(Interment) in the Highland Cemetery at New Sharon.

Nena Faye Schmadeke, daughter of Earl Hicks and Cora Walters Hicks, was born Aug. 31, 1934 in Brooklyn. She was graduated from Tama High School in 1952.

Nena married Don Moore on March 18, 1954. Nena spent her life caring for her children and enjoyed camping, pets, hiking, fishing, Pepsi, and gardening. She attended the Congregational Church in Grinnell where she was a Sunday School teacher for several years. A special joy to Nena were her grandchildren. She looked forward to camping with them in her backyard.

She was united in marriage to Richard Schmadeke on July 11, 1986 at The Little Brown Church. She was a member of the Community Hope Church of Montezuma.

She is survived by her children: Tim (Mary) Moore of Fairfax, David (Deanna) Moore of Montezuma, Daniel (Deanna) Moore of Montezuma, Jacqueline Strange of Grimes, Christy (John) Bushong of Montezuma and Caralee (Randy) Schmadeke of Moore, Okla. She also leaves 20 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Nena was preceded in death by her parents, a husband Richard Schmadeke; her daughter Donena Bru; a brother, Nolen Hicks and a nephew Terry Hicks.
