RITES TODAYJean M. Adams, 83, of 2006 Fourth Ave., died Friday morning at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services for Mrs. Adams were held at 10 a.m. today at the James-Schalinske Funeral Home, with Eugene Cree, Christian Science lay reader from Des Moines, officiating. Organist was Helen Otcheck. Burial was at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines.
The daughter of Thomas and Janet Ross McAlpine, she was born April 18, 1894, in Paisley, Scotland. As a young girl, she came to Canada and later to the U.S.
She was married to Thaddeus E. Adams at Boone on Jan. 11, 1916. Mr. and Mrs. Adams lived in Des Moines since their marriage, moving to Grinnell in 1962. Mrs. Adams was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Grinnell.
She is survived by two children, Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Brink of Grinnell and John Adams of Cushing, Okla.; four grandchildren; and her sisters, Mrs. Margaret Cochran, Mrs. Jessie Blackley, Mrs. Ann Nichols and Miss Nancy McAlpine, all of San Francisco, Calif.
She was preceded by her husband, Thaddeus, in 1966, and a son, Robert M. Adams, in 1923.
