DIES SUDDENLY
IN CALIFORNIAMrs. Elvira M. Newton of Pasadena, Calif., widow of Arthur H. Newton, died at Pasadena on Thursday, Dec. 19th. She was approximately 80 years of age and had been in ill health for several months.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 23rd at Pasadena.
Mrs. Newton was born in Michigan, but lived much of her life in Grinnell. The Newtons had moved to California from Grinnell about 20 years ago.
Survivors include two brothers, William Foster of Grinnell and Charles Foster of Tama; two grandchildren, Donald Nicke of Wapakoneta, Ohio and Mrs. Joseph Jones of Batavia, Ill; eight great grandchildren and the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. Floyd Puls, and Mrs. Gladys Stowe of Grinnell, Hale Vale Van Derveer of Grinnell; Mrs. George Baustian of Malcom and Robert Foster of Tama.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in the spring of this year.
