AT BARNES CITY

Graveside services for Omer Emerson Fry were conducted Friday, March 14, by the Rev. Martin Gruneich at the Barnes City Cemetery with the Steffy Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Fry, 60, passed away March 7 at Wellman, Iowa.

The son of William and Phebe Menner Fry, he was born at Barnes City on May 5, 1908. His early life was spent in the Barnes City and New Sharon communities.

At one time he and his brother, Adrian Sams, operated the Monte Dairy and Midway Oil Station in Montezuma. For the past 16 years he was employed by the Rock Island Railroad, moving to Wellman about ten years ago.

Survivors include his step-father, Madison Sams of Montezuma; two brothers, Adrian Sams of Montezuma and Junior Sams of New Sharon; one sister, Mrs. Jarrett (Zella) Beal of Oskaloosa; several nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Shaw Fry; his second wife, Laura Quimby Fry; his parents; one sister and four brothers.
