Emily Frances Stevens was born in Trumbull County, Ohio, in the year 1843 and departed this life December 26, 1923, at the home of her son, John Mowrey, aged 80 years, 2 months and 17 days.

She was united in marriage to Wm. H. Mowrey, in 1863, at Niles, Michigan, and moved to this state in the year of 1876 and has resided in and around Brooklyn since.

In 1861 she united with the Presbyterian church and has lived a faithful Christian life ever since.

She was the mother of eight children, five of whom are living: Elmer, John, Mrs. Rozella Kann, and Mrs. Lulu Tisdale of Brooklyn and Cora D. Evans of Marengo. These with twenty-two grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren are left to mourn her loss.

Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church Friday, December 28th, at two o’clock. The funeral sermon was given by Rev. W. J. Fowler. Burial was made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
