BERYL KNUDSEN

The Rev. Beryl "Gus" Knudsen, 70, of Grinnell died Thursday at Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at First Lutheran Church in Newton, with burial in Newton Union Cemetery.

A native of Cozad, Neb., the Rev. Mr. Knudsen moved to Grinnell in 1986 after living in Des Moines for 20 years. He was the former pastor of Luther Memorial Church in Des Moines. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a past president of the Des Moines Area Religious Council and a member of the Grand View College board of trustees. He had also worked as an admissions counselor and assistant director of admissions at Grand View.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice; two daughters, Sandra Knudsen and Luanne Knudsen, both of Prairie City; one son, Dean of Scottsbluff, Neb.; and three brothers, Carl of Cozad, Arnold of Longview, Wash., and Stanley of Lexington, Neb.

Memorials in his name may be made to Grand View College or to his church.
