John Peter Nussbaum, the youngest son of Daniel and Alta Williams Nussbaum, was born August 10, 1891 at LeRoy, Iowa and died at the Fillmore Nursing home in Osceola, May 31, 1967, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 21 days.
When a young man he went to Wyoming to live until enlisting in the United States Army in 1918.
On July 4, 1923 he was married to Margaret Wadsworth of Brooklyn. They lived on a farm near Brooklyn and later moved into Brooklyn where he worked as a carpenter. They had no children. His wife died August 6, 1945.
In 1946 he went to Clarke County and spent most of his remaining years three. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign wars, having served in Co. C Forty-Eighth Engineers during World War I.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, step-father, Nicholas Furrer; three brothers, Ed, Frank and George; three sisters, Nettie Crider, Jennie Dingman and Sarah Nussbaum; two step-brothers,, Ed and Charles Furrer and one step-sister, Ella Smith.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Viola Bowlsby of Osceola and one step-brother, Pearl Furrer of Osceola.
Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Brooklyn. Military rites were conducted at the grave site by the Brooklyn American Legion.
