JOHN MATCHETT
SERVICES HELD

John Matchett, 90, of Grinnell died Friday evening, July 2, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Graveside services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant Township Cemetery near Ewart, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church officiating. Pallbearers were Ronald Arnaman, Lewis Baltisberger, Gordon Braley, Kenneth Haworth, Gerrit Septer and James Van Arkel.

The son of William and Isabella Cleland Matchett, he was born Aug. 2, 1891, near Ewart. He attended rural schools near the family home. He farmed near Ewart until moving to Grinnell in 1967. He was a member of the Ewart Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Matchett is survived by his sister, Matilda Lawson of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Matchett; and a brother in infancy.
