SHARON PRINCER

Sharon Princer, 53, of Montezuma died of cancer Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at her home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grinnell with the Rev. William Reynolds, pastor of the church, officiating. Music will be by the St. Mary's Choir. Friends may call at Smith Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church where the family will be present from 6 to 9 p.m. and a scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Grinnell Regional Hospice, Partners in Mary of St. Mary's Church or to Fairview Elementary School Playground Fund.

She was born June 9, 1950, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Henry and Beverly Schatz. She was raised in Cedar Springs, Mich., graduating from Cedar Springs High School with the class of 1968. She attended Ferris State University in Big Springs, Mich. On Aug. 31, 1968, she was married to Michael Princer in Sand Lake, Mich. The couple lived near Grand Rapids before moving to Grinnell in 1977. She was employed in the food service at Fairview Elementary School for over 20 years and was manager prior to her death.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, its Partners-in-Mary, American Legion Auxiliary Unit #733 of Malcom and Iowa City Ocean Wives Square Dance Club.

She is survived by her husband Michael Princer of Montezuma; three sons, Jason of Fairbank, Iowa, Michael of Woodstock, Ill., and Brian of Vernon Hills, Ill., and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents.
