Eva VanWyhe, 89, of Montezuma and formerly of New Sharon, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at the Mayflower Care Center in Grinnell.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Harden Funeral Home in New Sharon with Pastor David Pinkerton officiating. Interment will be at the Union Mills Cemetery.
Eva Arlene VanWyhe, daughter of Leslie and Dotsie (Walker) Gorsuch was born Oct. 26, 1918, in Mahaska County in the Browntown area. She attended South Browntown rural school and graduated from Montezuma High School in 1936. Eva married Walter VanWyhe in Oskaloosa on April 9, 1939. Together they lived on a farm in the Browntown neighborhood for 40 years before moving to New Sharon in 1979. She moved to Montezuma in 2003. Eva was a member of the First Christian Church in New Sharon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Dotsie Gorsuch; her husband, Walter, on Sept. 28, 1995; two infant sisters and one infant brother.
