Dora May Kann, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kann departed this life by accidentally shooting herself, October 10, 1903, about six o’clock, only living long enough to say she had shot herself. It is supposed she had undertaken to scour the gun and it was accidentally discharged, killing her almost instantly.
She was born November 23, 1892 at Brooklyn and lived here all her life. She was a good child, beloved by all, and she will be sadly missed at home, by teacher and schoolmates and at Sunday school.
The funeral was held from the Brethren church, October, 12, Rev. Flora conducting the services, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. The bereaved parents and brothers have they sympathy of the entire community in this their sad hour of trouble as was shown by the large number of friends that attended the funeral. Her teacher Miss Coon and schoolmates attended in a body. The floral offerings were many and beautiful.
