Albert Wilson Maddy was born in Brooklyn, Iowa March 18, 1872, and died Nov. 21, 1916, aged 44 years, 8 months and 3 days.
His parents, James W. and Lydia E. Maddy, were among the early settlers of the county.
The deceased spent his entire life in Brooklyn and vicinity and was noted for his steady industrious habits. He was unmarried and when not employed at a distance made his home with his mother until her death two years ago, and since that time with his sister, Mrs. Flora Crain. His father preceded him in death six years ago.
He is survived by one brother, J. W. Maddy of Mason City, Iowa, and three sisters, Mrs. H. C. Light and Mrs. Flora Crain of Brooklyn and Mrs. James B. Simeral of Cottage Grove, Oregon.
Mr. Maddy was a member in good standing of Brooklyn Lodge K of P and of Loyalty Temple, Pythian Sisters and of Brooklyn Lodge I.O.O.F. and the Rebekahs. Both in the lodges and among outside acquaintances he had many warm friends.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 23, in the M.E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. M. Smith. The high esteem in which he was held was attested by the unusually large attendance at the services and by the profusion of flowers.
Interment was made in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
