Mrs. Jas. Dunlap Buried Tuesday

Pioneer Couple Married 62 Years are Separated in Death Only 7 Weeks

Mrs. James Dunlap passed away at the home of her son, Clark, early Sunday morning. She had made her home there since the death of her husband on December second.

This venerable couple lived together for just a little over 62 years. On October 31st, they quietly celebrated that anniversary at their home here.

With their death the passing of another pioneer couple takes place.

They lived on the farm just north of Brooklyn for fifty-four years and only last spring changed their residence to the town, following the death of a son, William.

Mary Jane Clark, daughter of James and Margaret Abbott Clark, was born in Saxon, Bedford county, Pennsylvania, in July 1834, and died January 20, 1924, at Brooklyn, Iowa. She was the fourth of a family of ten children, of whom only one, Mrs. Robert Snyder, of Spokane, Washington, survive.

She was united in marriage to James Dunlap on October 31st, 1861. They left immediately for Illinois, where they made their home for eight years. In 1869 they came to Iowa, locating on a farm near Brooklyn, where they lived continuously until four years ago. Last spring they moved to Brooklyn to make their home. Mr. Dunlap preceded his wife in death just seven weeks, passing away on December second.

One son, Clark J. Dunlap, of Brooklyn; one daughter, Mrs. Addie Robson, of Corvallis, Oregon; and four grandchildren, Allan and Ella Robson and Dorothy and Helen Dunlap survive.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home and were in charge of the Rev. W. J. Fowler. Pall bearers were: Charles Keefe, D. C. Lineweaver, Gus. Johnson, I. J. Ormiston, Will Karr and Bert Scott. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
