The illness and death of little Jean Paul, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Paul of Spencer has been a sad blow to the family and a shock to the community. Coming here with her mother to attend the burial of her grandmother, Mrs. Cummings, she was taken sick Monday night at the home of Frank Dayton, where they were staying. Her illness rapidly developed into appendicitis and on Friday she was removed to Dr. Busby’s hospital for an operation, but her weakened condition prevented, and on Sunday after the most intense suffering she passed into the Great Beyond.
She was born at Brooklyn, Iowa, Aug. 15, 1897 and died at Brooklyn, Iowa, Feb. 3, 1907. The funeral was held from the home of Mr. Frank Dayton, conducted by Dr. Benson, assisted by Rev. Clappe and interment was in the city cemetery.
