FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN OHIO

Graveside services were held Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. at Jackson Township cemetery in Montezuma for Raymond L. Burdine, 76, of Newark, Ohio. The Rev. John Darlington officiated. He died Monday at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.

He was born August 6, 1903, in South Dakota. His parents were Jessie May Raymond and Sears Wesley Burdine.

He was a former employee of the Montezuma Republican and was production manager of the New Advocate in Newark when he retired in 1966.

He was a former editor of the Newark News Leader, a member of the International Typographical Union, a life member of the Newark Elks Lodge and for two years he was treasurer of the Elks Association.

For eight years he was councilman at large on the Newark city council. He was active in Democratic politics. He served two years on the Newark Civil Service Commission and had been publicity manager of the Heart Fund.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Carl Burdine of 95 N. 40th St. in Newark; a daughter, Bette J. Union of Newark; a grandson, Michael B. Union of Altoona, Pa.; three sisters, Lucille Reigh of Wenatchee, Wash.; Lillian Erickson of Renton, Wash.; and Inez Green of Hankinson, N.D. He had two brothers, both deceased.
