MARILYN M. SWINK, 67

Marilyn Marlene Swink, 67, of Montezuma, died suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005 while camping near Pella, Iowa.

Her memorial service was held Monday, Oct. 3, at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma. The body was cremated and there was no visitation. The Rev. George M. Salnave officiated at the service.

Marilyn was born on May 25, 1938, in Mahaska County, the daughter of John William and Ada Margaret (Curry) Draughn. She graduated from Barnes City High School in 1956. On May 25, 1956, Marilyn was united in marriage with Bill Swink at the Christian Church in Barnes City. One son was born to this union. The couple lived most of their married life around Barnes City, moving to Montezuma in 2000. Marilyn worked as a secretary at Sig Manufacturing in Montezuma for 31 years. She was currently the president of the Blakley-Stevens American Legion Auxiliary in Montezuma.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Bill, of Montezuma; a son, Bill Jr. and his friend Denise of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren, Chandra, Tasha and Erica Swink, as well as other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Junior Draughn and Rayford Draughn, and a sister, Bernice McClure Ankeny.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department.
