Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Louise Swink will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the Smith Funeral Home, Grinnell, with the Rev. John Pannkuk, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Malcom, officiating. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Montezuma.
Mrs. Swink, 70, the wife of John Earl Swink, of Grinnell, passed away suddenly Monday morning, June 6, at her home.
She was one of a family of nine children born to Lars and Mary Simon Ringsaker at Sisseton, S.D., on Nov. 6, 1895. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and received her education in the rural schools of Sisseton.
She was united in marriage with William Irving Solberg near Sisseton. To this union were born three daughters: Mrs. Russell (Pearl) Long of New Effington, S.D.; Mrs. Art (Lucille) Argo of Peever, S.D.; and Mrs. Frank (Eunice) Kelm of Grinnell. Her husband William passed away in 1930.
Later she was married to John Earl Swink at Watertown, S.D., on Feb. 2, 1932. To this union were born one daughter and one son: Mrs. Gene (Anna Marie) Johnson of Denver, Colo.; and Bill Earl Swink of Barnes City, Iowa. She also leaves one step-daughter: Mrs. Charles (Verna) Case of Shell Rock, Iowa.
Mrs. Swink and her husband, Earl, had lived near Sisseton before moving to the farm in the Forest Home neighborhood near Montezuma in 1933. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran church at Montezuma. She is survived by her husband and children; 25 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
