DIES IN IDAHOMrs. Margaret McRoberts Vinson, 86, of Rupert, Ida., a former Grinnell resident, died at Rupert Friday following an illness of the past two years.
Funeral services were held today (Monday) at Rupert and rites are planned here at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from the United Presbyterian church. Officiating will be the pastor, the Rev. Charles E. Landis and vocal music will be provided by Mrs. Robert Weaver, accompanied by Mrs. Eugene Holley at the organ.
Pallbearers will be James P. Peak, Edward B. Peak, James Peak, William Peak, Robert Peak and John Peak. Burial will be in Hazelwood cemetery. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home Wednesday morning.
She was born Jan. 17th, 1876, at Manhattan, N.Y., the daughter of James and Margaret Price Peak. At the age of two, she moved with her parents to Belfast, Ireland. On Aug. 17th, 1901, she was united in marriage with William L. McRoberts in Belfast, and they came to the United States in 1905, settling in Grinnell.
To this union were born five children, all of whom survive: Mrs. Duncan (Winnie) McKinzie of Bostonia, Calif.; Mrs. George Nickerson, the former Mamie McRoberts who resided in Grinnell for several years prior to moving to Rupert, Ida.; Mrs. Earl (Evelyn) Poole and Andrew McRoberts, also both of Rupert, Ida.; and Mrs. Vernard (Margaret) Comstock of Acequia, Ida.
In addition to her children, Mrs. Vinson is survived by two brothers, John N. Peak of Grinnell and Walter Peak of Saintfield, County Down, Ireland; nine grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Her husband, William McRoberts, died in 1915.
On Sept. 3rd, 1920, she was united in marriage with John Vinson of Rupert, Ida., and she lived in that community until her death. Her husband, John Vinson, died in 1934.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Edith) Hamilton of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Hugh (Minnie) Moore of Saintfield, Ire.; and two brothers, James Peak of Grinnell and William Peak of Saintfield, Ire.
After completing her education in the local schools in Ireland, she took her apprenticeship in the Perry Millinery Dress and Dry Goods Shop at Belfast and was an accomplished seamstress. After leaving Belfast, she made her home in Grinnell for about 15 years before moving to Idaho.
Mrs. Vinson was a member of the United Presbyterian church.
