AlVada G. Greene, the daughter of Earnest and Daisy Foster Robertson, was born in Mahaska County, Aug. 17, 1907. She was graduated from Malcom High School in 1926. She was married to Ellys Greene Jan. 15, 1927 at Deep River. To this union was born three children: Marianne, Jarold and Frances.
Following their marriage, they farmed in the Deep River area for many years, and AlVada was a homemaker who loved her garden and enjoyed dealing in antiques as a hobby.
AlVada and Ellys moved to their present residence in Deep River in 1967. Ellys died Nov. 26, 1982, and AlVada continued to make her home in Deep River.
On Fri., Dec. 2, AlVada died at the Mahaska Hospal in Oskaloosa at the age of 87 years, 3 months, and 15 days.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Marianne, Mrs. Maurice Manley of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jarold and Virginia Greene of Victor, and Frances, Mrs. Marion Elliott of Deep River. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, who AlVada dearly loved and enjoyed. Also a brother: Leland Robertson of Oskaloosa, and a sister: Mrs. Irene Kline of Macon, Mo.
AlVada was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers: Howard and Max Robertson.
Services were held Dec. 4 at Watts Funeral Home of Montezuma. Officiating services was Pastor Warren James and Pastor Rick Van Wey.
Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Ramsey, playing "Jesus Saves," "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." Congregational hymn was "In The Garden."
Casket bearers were Mitchell Manley, Bryan Greene, Brant Greene, Lyndon Elliott, Loren Elliott and Lance Elliott.
Interment was at Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River.
