In Memoriam
The grim Messenger of death has again been in our midst and with its icy hand touched a beloved wife and mother. Sister Nancy Odessa Wheeler (nee Connell) who was born in Ohio June 25, 1861, but whose present home was Victor, Ia., was suddenly stricken with apoplexy October 4, 1914 at the Church of the Brethren one mile east of Brooklyn. That Sister Wheeler had entered the church only a short time before with no visible sign of death resting upon her brow makes the scene doubly sad yet what more desirable time would be choose to be called from the stage of action than while in the house of God and in the attitude of prayer as was Sister Wheeler when death drew near. She was removed to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Breniman, where the final summons came at 4 p.m. the same day.
Sister Wheeler was aged 53 years, 3 months and 9 days. She was united in marriage to Geo. Richard Wheeler, February 1, 1881. To this union were born two sons and four daughters, who with the husband, two brothers, one sister and twelve grandchildren are left to mourn their loss. She became a member of the Church of the Brethren June 25, 1899.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, October 6, by Brother I. W. Brubaker.
