Bessie Freeland Sackett was born in Patterson, Waynes county, Missouri, Nov. 30, 1894, and died at her home south of Brooklyn, September 2, 1916, age 21 years, 9 months and 2 days. When six years old, with her parents, she moved to Rhodes, Marshall county, Iowa. After settling in Iowa her mother died, and later her brother and sister, leaving only her father, to care for her. She then went to live with her aunt, Mrs. John Freeland. She lived near Rhodes until she came to Brooklyn, where she was married to John Sackett Jan. 13, 1915. To this couple was born a baby girl, Aug. 17, 1916, who with the husband, John Sackett, and her father, James Freeland, are left to mourn her loss, along with a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held at Grace M.E. church on Monday, Sept. 4, conducted by Rev. J. H. Burnworth. Interment in I.O.O.F. cemetery.
