Oct. 13, 1908

Miss Gladys Hoskins, a member of the Freshman class in Iowa College, died after a short illness at her home 1020 Chatterton street, on last Saturday evening. Miss Hoskins was born at Big Rock, Scott county, October 21, 1887. About three years go the family moved to Grinnell and she with her sister entered the Grinnell Academy. She has been a faithful student and was making steady progress in her studies, by her quiet unassuming character commanding the respect of her fellow students and by her gentle, gracious manners, winning their affection. She was active in the work of the Christian Endeavor Society of the Congregational church, and will be missed by her associates in that work as well as by her College classmates. There was a brief funeral service at the residence Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T.A. Dungan, Professor Noble saying a few words as representavitve of the College. The remains were taken to Big Rock for interment on Monday morning.
