SERVICES HELD FOR
MRS. WM. BEHRENS

Funeral services for Mrs. Wm. D. Behrens were held from the home Friday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. and at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Johns Lutheran Church with Rev. Edmund Weiss officiating.

Music was by the St. Johns Church choir and organist. Flowers were cared for by the Will Jahlas, the Farrell Johnsons and Mrs. Clint Icenbice. Casket bearers were all sons-in-law with burial in the St. Johns cemetery.

OBITUARY

Maria Rank, daughter of Jacob and Rose Rank was born in Dayton township, Iowa county, Iowa, January 6th, 1879, on a farm east of Deep River, Iowa.

She received her education in the district township school and attended the St. Johns Lutheran Christian day school in Lincoln township, the last 2 years of her elementary education she received instruction in the Christian religion prior to confirmation at the time she attended the Deep River high school.

She received Holy Baptism as a child in St. Johns Lutheran church in Lincoln Township on September 21, 1879, by the Rev. J. Loeschen. Having received Christian instruction she was confirmed on April 7, 1895, by the Pastor Rev. Otto Kitzman.

April 2, 1902, she was united in marriage to W.D. Behrens, to this union 11 children were born, after their marriage they farmed in Poweshiek County all their life.

Mrs. Behrens passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 7th at her home with a heart attack about 1:00 o'clock at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 1 day.

She was a kind and devoted wife, a good mother and grandmother and a neighbor and friend to everyone. She will be greatly missed in the home by her family, in the church and community where she has lived all her life.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, 4 sons, George and Henry at home, Walter of Williamsburg, Carl of Cedar Rapids, 7 daughters, Esther, now Mrs. Louis Schultz of Deep River, Mabel, now Mrs. Henry Wiechmann of Cedar Rapids, Marie of Iowa City, Ella, now Mrs. Fred Keiper of Palo, Minne, now Mrs. Erwin Mass of Williamsburg, Florence, now Mrs. Henry Naber of Muscatine, Margaret now Mrs. Ted Bohstedt of Victor, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, 1 brother Michael Rank of Deep River, besides other relatives and many friends.
