MARY LAWTHERS RITES FRIDAY
Mary Lawthers, 73, of 90 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond C. Lott, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and pallbearers were Randy Grant, Glenn A. Gibson, Montie Hammond, Neil Johnson, Marion Onthank and Bob Saunders.
Burial was in Sheridan Township Cemetery north of Grinnell.
The daughter of Chauncey and Maude Ralls Williams, she was born March 15, 1912, at Almeria, Neb. She was married to Oliver L. Lawthers on My 2, 1930, at Brighton, Colo. She and her husband farmed near Rising City, Neb., until coming to the Grinnell area in 1941. They had farmed in the Sheridan area for 20 years.
Mrs. Lawthers was a member of the Sonora Grange.
She is survived by two children, Robert L. of Grinnell and Delores Johnson of Grinnell; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glen and Tim Williams of Mesa, Ariz.; and four sisters, Goldie Mashada of Scappose, Ore., Lela Carlson of Chicago, Ill., Bernice Sidie of Sheridan, Wyo., and Pauline Waggner of Weiser, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver; and one sister, Stella Thomazin.
