BRACKNEY DIES
AT MAYFLOWER
Etta Louise Brackney, 96, of the Mayflower Home died there Wednesday morning.

Services for Etta Brackney are pending. Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home for further information.

Born in Spring Prairie, Wis., on Aug. 29, 1882, she was the daughter of Franklin and Elizabeth Kebler Williams. While she was still a young girl, the family moved to Parkersburg, Ia., where she graduated from high school in 1901.

In 1905 she graduated from the University of Iowa and taught English at Parkersburg High School. She was married to Herbert Brackney on June 10, 1908, in Parkersburg. The couple had two children.

In 1908, the couple moved to Sioux City, where Herbert Brackney practiced law for a number of years. Following her husband's death in 1951, she came to the Mayflower Home.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ-Congregational and the Rose Croix chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as a regent of the Martha Washington chapter of the D.A.R. and a member of Chapter B.M. of the P.E.O. sisterhood.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. E.F. (Marion) Pechacek of Sioux City; a brother, Chester Williams of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
