NINA DAWKINS SERVICES HELD
Nine G. Dawkins, 89, of 1013 Summer St., Grinnell, died Saturday evening, Jan. 8, at her home.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the Grinnell First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Kathleen Heffner, and vocalist was Darlene Switzer. Pallbearers were Loren Edgington, Paul McConnell, Grant Mills, John Myers, Robert Myers, William G. Myers, David Paul and Carlyle Phipps.
Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery.
The daughter of William J. and Ann McCaw Grant, she was born June 12, 1893, near Ewart. She was married to Homer Ernest Dawkins on Aug. 30, 1926, in Grinnell.
The couple lived in Grinnell, and she was employed as a machinist for the Maytag Company at Newton. She also was employed at Brintnall's Department Store and Spurgeon's Department Store.
Mrs. Dawkins was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and the Rebekah Lodge, and she was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, Richard H. Dawkins of Fort Worth, Texas, and two sisters, Margaret T. Mills of Mendota, Ill., and Iva Myers of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
