EUNICE SHIPPEY, 102

Eunice M. Shippey, 102 of Montezuma, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 1996 at the Senior Home in Montezuma.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 2, 1996 at Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with Rev. Father Joe Rogers, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Brooklyn, officiating. Organist was Marilyn Kriegel and Angie Hawkins was soloist, with music selection of "Ave Marie." Casket bearers were Gene Morgan, Mervin Morgan, Mark Morgan, Terry Osborne, Scott Morgan and John Morgan. Burial was in Golden Rod Cemetery, Deep River, Iowa.

Eunice was born Nov. 22, 1893 north of Deep River, the daughter of Augustus Orren Morgan and Winifred (Nickerson) Morgan. She graduated from Montezuma High School in 1914. She attended Iowa State University in Ames for one year and graduated from Drake University in Des Moines. She taught school in Minburn, Gibson and Milo, before her marriage. On Nov. 14, 1927 she was united in marriage with Fredrick John Shippey at Gary, Ind. They lived in Chicago, Ill., where she did substitute teaching. In 1934 they moved to Milwaukee, Wis. In 1971 Eunice moved to Montezuma and became a resident of the Senior Home. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Brooklyn, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 2, 1958; two sisters: Effie Mae Good Osier and Edna Pearl Christiansen; and two brothers: George John Morgan and Robert Menzo Morgan.

Eunice is survived by one sister, Neola Winifred Peters of Montezuma; twelve living nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
