ROBERT M. MORGAN, 90

Robert M. Morgan, 90, of rural Montezuma, died Sunday morning, April 14, 1996, in the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.

Funeral services were held Wed., April 17, 1996, in the Grace Unnited Methodist Church, Brooklyn. Rev. William B. Daylong, pastor, officiated. The organist was Anita Ormiston and soloist was Calvin Roudabush with music selections of "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rinehart and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Arvidson. Honorary casket bearers were Eldon Burns, Stan Schlabach, Howard Johnston and Tim Van Ersvelde. Casket bearers were Terry Osborne, David Morgan, Chris Morgan, Scott Morgan, Cory Hall, David Keller, Pat Douglas, Dale Douglas and Kevin Jahlas. Burial was in the Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Robert Menzo Morgan was born on Aug. 8, 1905, in Guernsey, Iowa, the son of Augustus O. and Winnifred Nickerson Morgan. He received his education at Montezuma and then worked as a farm hand. On Feb. 6, 1929, he was married to Virginia Elizabeth Lytle in her mother's home in Brooklyn. They farmed in Scott Township from 1929 to 1936 when they moved to their present farm. Mrs. Morgan died May 3, 1989. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn. For many years he was a 4-H leader, was active in the Farm Bureau, and served two years with the National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters; one brother; one daughter-in-law; one step great-granddaughter; and one grandson-in-law.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Betty Osborne and her husband, Richard of Brooklyn; two sons, Mervin of Grinnell and Gene and his wife, Joyce, of Brooklyn; two sister: Eunice Shippey and Neola Peters of Montezuma; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandson.

Memorials may be made to the East Poweshiek Ambulance Service and may be left with the Nevenhoven Funeral Home.
