RITES HELD TODAY
AT GILMAN FOR MRS.
SEVERINA EVANS, 83

Funeral services for Mrs. Severina Sawyer Evans, 83, Grinnell, were held this afternoon (Thursday) from the Stavangar Friends church north of Gilman.

Mrs. Evans, a resident of Grinnell for the past 47 years, died early last Saturday evening at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Charles McCracken. Vocal music was provided by Mrs. Wesley Roseland, Mrs. Wilbert Sawyer, Mrs. Clarence Stangeland and Mrs. Ernest Hoge.

Pallbearers were Donald Beane, Neal Hoover, Paul Parker, Alvin Rosedale, Truman Rosedale, and Elmer Wolken. Interment was in the church cemetery with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was the daughter of Andreas and Inger Roseland Ronstad and was born April 9th, 1877, at Flekkefjord, Norway. She attended the Friends school in Stavangar, Norway. When a young girl she came to the United States and lived at Gilman.

Mrs. Evans had been married twice. Her first marriage was with Eneas M. Sawyer on Mar. 25th, 1897, at LeGrand. They lived for a time in the Gilman area and then moved to Grinnell in 1914, where she had made her home since. Mr. Sawyer died on Oct. 29th, 1932.

Her second marriage was to Charles T. Evans on Dec. 31st, 1945, at Montezuma. He preceded her in death in 1950.

Mrs. Evans was a member of the Friends church and the Rebekah lodge.

She is survived by eight children: Mrs. Hannah Twedt of Salem, Ore., Arthur T. Sawyer of Grinnell, Tilman A. Sawyer of Oak Ridge, N.J., Mrs. Esther Brown of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Mildred McCartheney of London, England, and Mrs. Sylvia Todd, Thomas Sawyer and Mrs. Elizabeth Shea, all of New York City; and three step children, Donovan Evans of Grinnell, and Mrs. Gertrude Twedt and Bertram Sawyer, both of California.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchidren, and two sisters, Mrs. Theolina Bryngelson of Marshalltown and Mrs. Minnie Larson of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, two children, two brothers, and three sisters.
