OF EASTERN STAR

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred McKinnon were held April 2 at the Steffy Funeral Home conducted by Rev. Frank Jacobs, Montezuma Methodist pastor. Miss Alice Underwood played the musical selections.

Interment was in the family lot of Masonic-IOOF cemetery. Casket bearers were Cliff Braley, Calvin Harden, Fred Zorn, W. Hoyt Bonham, Billy Fitzsimmons and Ross McDonald.

Nora, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Rose, was born in Montezuma Sept. 1, 1883, and died in Burbank, Calif., Mar. 28, at 88 years of age.

She attended the local school and after graduation, taught in the rural school for several terms.

On July 9, 1907, she was united in marriage with Fred McKinnon. They made their home in Montezuma and later moved to Cedar Rapids.

In 1918, she was initiated in Lafayette Chapter 232, Order of Eastern Star at Montezuma. She later served as worthy matron of Cedar Rapids Chapter 184, Cedar Rapids.

After the death of her husband in 1933, she became a practical nurse and practiced in Minneapolis, Minn., and Los Angeles, Calif. Since her retirement she has been cared for in a convalescent home.

She is survived by her step-daughter, Mrs. Beulah Vander Cloute, of St. Petersburg, Fla., two grandsons and three great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
