RETTA L. BAKER

Retta Lucille Baker, 91, a native of Brooklyn, died Monday, March 14, in Duneden (Dunedin), Fla.

Her body was cremated. Her daughter and son-in-law will bury her ashes this spring in Malcom Cemetery with her first husband.

The daughter of Elzy Fayette Norris and Harriet Wilson, she was born Oct. 10, 1902, near Brooklyn. She was president of her high school class and taught rural school for three years.

She was married to Charles Harold Swindal Sept. 28, 1923, and they lived for many years in Iowa City where she was active in Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron. They moved to Arizona where Mr. Swindal died in 1940.

On April 8, 1944, she was married to Delphos Ward Baker, a lawyer and accountant. They worked together for some years as REA auditors but divorced in 1964. In 1965 she moved to Millinocket, Me., to be closer to her daughter, Jane, and worked for several years as a house mother at Maine State College. She was a resident at Mease Plaze, a retirement center in Duneden (Dunedin), Fla., at the time of her death.

Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis "Jane" Brown; one grandson; and her siblings, Agnes Montgomery of Loveland, Colo., Thelma Fountain of Iowa City and George Norris of Oakland Acres.
