MILLIE BADGER

Millie Badger, 92, of Des Moines, formerly of Grinnell, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the USA Health Care Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Stewart, pastor of the Grinnell First Baptist Church, officiating. Organist was Denise Baustian, and soloist was Milton Severe. Pallbearers were Larry Adams, Jeff and Tracy Aldrich, Harold Badger, Merle Baker and Pat Callahan. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama.

The daughter of Daniel Delaney and Mary Elizabeth Cole Taylor, she was born March 10, 1907, in Joplin, Mo. She moved with her family to Poweshiek County and attended rural schools near her home in Ewart and, later, Malcom.

Following her education, she moved to Wheaton, Ill., then returned to Malcom several years later.

She was married to Bill Badger Sept. 30, 1955, in Malcom. They farmed near Ankeny and Winterset. They moved to Grinnell in 1960, and she was employed at several downtown cafes. She retired in the late 1970s and moved to Des Moines in 1995.

Surviving are one daughter, Doris Callahan of West Des Moines; two sons, Fred Aldrich of Seattle, Wash., and Merten Aldrich of Omaha, Neb.; five stepchildren, Ruth See of Waterloo, Carolyn Dayton and Harold Badger, both of Grinnell, and Joan Shaw and Pauline Alexander, both of Tama; two sisters, Pauline Baker of Kansas and Opal English of Marshalltown; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, John, Junior, Ted and Willard Taylor; and one sister, Helen.
