AFTERNOON FOR
MRS. KATIE BLACK

Mrs. Katie E. Black, 82, Grinnell, died suddenly Tuesday morning at a local hospital. She had not been in the best of health for the last five years.

Funeral services were held this afternoon (Thursday) at the Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. C.E. Kingsley of the First Baptist church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Kathleen Heffner.

Pallbearers were Ed Green, Ed Hannay, Howard Hyde, Roger Lincoln, Raymond Norris and Raymond Pilgrim. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

She was the daughter of John and Margaret McClure Clark and was born in Harrison county, Mo., on Dec. 31st, 1877. On Sept. 15th, 1893 she was united in marriage with Willard H. Black in Missouri. She and her husband made their home in Bonham, Tex., where he died on April 30th, 1934.

Several years later Mrs. Black moved to Grinnell to be near her sisters. She has lived in Grinnell since that time. She was a member of the Christian church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. F.M. Wilson and Mrs. G.T. Ricketts, both of Grinnell. Also surviving are three nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and one sister.
