YUILLE E. MATTINGLY

Yuille E. Mattingly, 88, of Montezuma died Thursday, Oct. 8, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the Rev. Brian Carter officiating. Pallbearers were Sam Mattingly, Kevin Osborn, LaVerne Loftin, Joe Mattingly, Kenneth Schultz and Grover Loftin. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell.

The son of Sam and Alice Saville Mattingly, he was born near Laurel. He moved with his parents (to) the Bear Creek farm in about 1908, and in 1918 moved with them to the Lister farm where he lived until 1950.

He was married to Edna Hays Sept. 20, 1926, in Grinnell. They farmed, and Mr. Mattingly also worked for Spaulding Manufacturing. They moved to Grinnell in 1950 and Mr. Mattingly worked at Hazelwood Cemetery, the James-Schalinske Funeral Home and Friendship Manor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Inez and Esther; and two brothers, Ralph and Guy.
